It didn’t take the Moon family long to tackle their next big hotel project in North Texas after the success of the Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West hotel, which intertwines Zen-like Asian design with urban-style Texas culture to create a sought-after destination near Toyota North America’s campus.
While the Moon family was developing the Legacy West hotel, officials with the City of Frisco approached the business-minded family, which owns a chain of jewelry and apparel stores in the Lone Star state, in hopes of convincing them to develop a new full-service hotel in Frisco.
The city, in partnership with General Growth Properties Inc., pitched the idea of creating a full-service hotel attached to Stonebriar Mall, which is owned by GGP.
The Moon family, which has a Sam Moon retail store adjacent to the mall, was “very interested” in the project, and soon began working on the family’s second full-service hotel in the region.
