McCarthy Building Companies Inc. will construct the new Collin College Technical Campus in Allen, the Dallas office of the St. Louis-based company announced last week.
The 360,000-square-foot facility will specialize in technical workforce education and include a 151,000-square-foot academic building for classrooms, administration, common spaces and student services. Another 23,700-square-foot conference building will house meeting rooms and a conference center, and a 42,000-square-foot shared building with classrooms and labs will offer dual credit classes for Allen High School Students.
Additionally, the campus will have an underground parking garage with space for roughly 600 cars, as well as a central green space.
“The Collin College Technical Campus and the dual credit center will have a tremendous impact on students in Allen ISD and the preparedness of our future work force,” Ray Sedey, McCarthy’s southern region president, said in a prepared statement. “McCarthy is ideally suited to build complex technical educational facilities and our team is excited to work on something that has intrinsic synergies to our industry.”
McCarthy held a groundbreaking ceremony for the project on Sept. 7. The center is expected to be complete by summer 2020.
