Construction started just a week ago on another new development near the busy Galleria shopping and office complex in Far North Dallas.
The area around the Dallas North Tollway north of LBJ Freeway is seeing a building boom with apartment, retail and office construction.
The 12-story hotel under construction on Noel Road two blocks north of the Galleria is adding to development activity in the neighborhood.
“We love the Galleria area because it’s a crossroads,” said Jon Langbert, a partner in the new Plush Suites hotel project that just broke ground. “One of the reasons we decided to go to 12 floors is because of the growing density in the area.”
The 300-unit hotel will have oversized rooms and extra amenities to appeal to business travelers who stay multiple nights in a property.
“A hotel room is really cool the first night you are there, but after a couple of nights you just want to get home,” Langbert said. “Our goal is to build a nicer room that addresses that but keeps the price point affordable.”
